CLASSIC MAUSER MODEL 71/84 (OBSOLETE CALIBRE)

£1,195.00

This is a very good Mauser model 71/84 (1888) 11mm rifle marked Spandau. The rifle carries all the correct markings on stock and butt plate. The rifle has all matching barrel bands, receiver and barrel, the bolt does have a different number but in no way detracts from a very fine example. The unit marking on the butt are another clue to this pattern rifle being unique as they are G.R.S.2.24, Garde Reserve Schutzen Btln, 2nd Company, 24th weapon. The Schutzen battalions were two of the unique units of the old Imperial Army, only two, the Garde and the Garde Reserve Schutzen battalion. In addition, the year 1888 is rather important in that it was the year that three Kaisers ruled Germany, Wilhelm I, Friedrich-Wilhelm III and Wilhelm II.

The rifles bore is very good. The woodwork has some marks commensurate with use, but no cracks or splits and considering age is very good.

Overall this is a very fine example of these hard to examples

This rifle is an obsolete calibre so no licence is required, just the usual criteria for purchase
